Accounting and Administrative Services

The Accounting and Administrative Services division performs all budgeting, accounting, and grant reporting functions for the agency, as well as administrative support services, such as Human Resources.  This includes the following:

  • Drafting the agency’s annual budget request and monitoring actual vs. budgeted expenditures throughout the State’s fiscal year
  • Handling procurement purchases and processing all vendor invoices and other agency related payments in the statewide accounting system
  • Processing contract and monthly payrolls and travel reimbursements
  • Performing monthly and quarterly grant reporting as required by the granting agency
  • Managing onboarding and offboarding of AGO employees, including benefits
  • Assisting with intern opportunities
  • Conducting inventory management

This division is also responsible for the contract approval process in the statewide accounting system for all agencies and outside legal contracts executed.

Yolanda Nash,
Accounting and Financial Management

Yolanda started her career in state government in 2012 as an audit supervisor with the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor where she led teams auditing various State agencies.  She was promoted to audit manager at the OSA before expanding her career to the Mississippi Office of the State Treasurer as the Director of Accounting, Bonds, and Financial Management.  There she managed the reconciliation of the statewide cash balance on a daily and monthly basis as well as prepared and managed the budget and cash management processes of the State’s general obligation and revenue bonds. Yolanda transitioned to the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office in January 2020 to oversee all accounting functions of the agency, as well as federal grant reporting. Prior to her career in state government, Yolanda spent 9 years as an auditor with national, regional, and local accounting firms.  She is a member of the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Association of Government Accountants (AGA), where she serves on the Chapter Executive Committee for the Jackson Chapter of AGA and has also served as Chapter President.
