This unit provides comprehensive investigation, prosecution, training, and public awareness on crimes involving the use of a computer and the Internet. Through cooperation with The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Unit investigates Cyber tips and educates the public on crimes against children. The Cyber Crime Unit also provides technical assistance to state, local and federal law enforcement officials in the investigation of electronic crimes as well as the seizure and forensic analysis of computers and other digital evidence. The Cyber Crime Unit is part of a task force which includes Mississippi State University, The University of Mississippi, the F.B.I., the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Mississippi, the U.S. Postal Inspectors, I.C.E. and local law enforcement.
