Owner of Jackson Eye Clinic Arrested for Medicaid Fraud

November 27, 2013

The owner of a Jackson eye clinic is facing charges of Medicaid Fraud, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.

Barbara Faye Jones , 30, of Jackson, turned herself into authorities with the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Tuesday following  recent indictment  by a Hinds County grand jury.

The indictment  alleges that Jones , as owner/operator of Clear View Vision Care, did willfully, unlawfully and feloniously make, present and cause to be made and presented false, fictitious and fraudulent claims for more than $28,000 in Medicaid benefits, knowing the claims to be false, fictitious and fraudulent. The claims allegedly presented for payment were for eyeglass frames and prescription lens for some 142 Medicaid recipients. It is alleged that the glasses were never provided, and in many cases were never prescribed.

Jones faces 15 years in prison and $150,000 in fines if convicted. She was booked into the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond and bond set at $2,500 per count.

As with all cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
