Jackson, MS--Today, Attorney General Jim Hood defended local State Farm insurance agents in Mississippi against State Farm corporate executives for trying to hurt its own agents by prohibiting them on a statewide basis from selling new homeowner’s and commercial property insurance. Hood said, “It is indeed childish for a company like State Farm to hurt its own dedicated insurance agents in an attempt to intimidate a federal judge, the Mississippi Legislature, and the citizens of the State of Mississippi. It is one thing to write no new policies in coastal areas, but to also punish its own agents throughout other parts of the state where there is no additional risk, shows the American public just how arrogant this company has become.”
Hood continued, “For a company that made $3.9 billion net profit during the most catastrophic year in history to now leave its dedicated customers and agents during their time of need, clearly shows that the so-called ‘Good Neighbor’ moves out when they are called upon to do their fair share. With ‘neighbors’ like that, who needs them?”
“Tomorrow morning I will be announcing a course of action which I believe will put a stop to these type of antics,” said Attorney General
