Jackson, Miss.- Attorney General Jim Hood today announced the guilty plea of a former nursing home worker to four counts of felony exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
Erica Haymer, age 31, of 1212 Pecan Street in Yazoo City, pled guilty before Hinds County Circuit Court Judge Swan Yerger, and was sentenced to one year house arrest, followed by two years of supervised probation. She must also pay full restitution of $4,721.20 to the victim, as well as a $500 fine, $500 to the Crime Victims’ Compensation Fund, $500 to the Attorney General’s Office for the cost of the investigation, and all court costs. Haymer must pay all fines and restitution within 36 months.
Haymer, (aka Babyphat), was employed as a nurse’s attendant with the Mississippi State Veteran’s Home in Jackson. An investigation showed that she used her position to exploit over $4,000 in cash, a cell phone, and Internet services from a vulnerable adult living at the home.
