FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jackson, MS—A Jackson woman is going to jail for stealing someone’s identity, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.

Dimples Robinson pleaded guilty to two counts fraudulent use of identity yesterday before Judge Winston Kidd in Hinds County Circuit Court.  Robinson (aka Dimples Collins, Denise Robinson, D. Ebony Robinson, and Shorty Robinson) was sentenced to 15 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, 10 years suspended plus five years of supervised probation, meaning she will serve five years behind bars.  Robinson must also pay restitution of $102,100.60 for using 15 credit cards to make charges in the victim’s name. If Robinson does not pay the restitution, she will serve the full 15 years behind bars.  Additionally, if she commits another crime in the future, she will be treated as a habitual offender.

“The victim in the case was able to clean up most of her credit after much effort, but her ability to obtain a decent mortgage on her home was hindered by this defendant,” said Attorney General Hood.

This case was prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorney General Crystal Utley of the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division.
