Jackson Resident Pleads Guilty to Abuse of a Vulnerable Adult

Jackson, Miss.- A Jackson resident has plead guilty to count of felony abuse of a vulnerable adult, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.

Nicole A. Williams, age 38, 235 Fairbanks Street, Jackson, worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) at Manhattan Nursing Home in Jackson during November 2007. She pled guilty to striking a resident of the facility in the face causing the vulnerable adult to suffer pain and injury. 

Williams pled guilty before Hinds County Circuit Court Judge Tomie Green on March 2, 2009. She was sentenced to five years supervised probation during which time her CNA license is to be suspended, and a $1,000 fine. She will be allowed to reapply for her license at the end of the five years. 

“Everyone whose parent is in the care of another should check in on them closely, “ said Attorney General Hood. “After all, you are their first line of defense.”
