Jackson, MS—A Harrison County resident has been arrested and charged with one count of Sexual Battery of a Vulnerable Person by a Person in Position of Trust or Authority and one count of Felony Abuse of a Vulnerable Person.
Sarah Jackson, age 63, was indicted by a Harrison County Grand Jury on December 28, 2011 following an investigation by the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. She was arrested on the charges January 9 by Attorney General Investigators Kelly Edgar and Randolph Brown, working with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.
Harrison County Circuit Court set Jackson’s bond at $30,000. She faces a maximum of up 30 years for Sexual Battery and 20 years for Felony Abuse for a combined potential of up to 50 years in prison.
MFCU Investigator Kelly Edgar investigated this case. It is being prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorneys General Treasure Tyson and Jonas W. Bowen.
As with all cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
