FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jackson, MS-- A Florence man is going to jail for child exploitation, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.

Wallace Weeks, age 49, of Florence appeared before Judge William Chapman in Rankin County Circuit Court today and pleaded guilty to eight counts of child exploitation.

Weeks was sentenced to 10 years with five years to serve, five years suspended, five years post release supervision. He must pay $1,000 to the Attorney General’s crime victim’s compensation fund and he must also register as a sex offender.

“Our forensics analysis and investigation uncovered numerous pornographic images of children on the defendant’s home computer and other devices,” said Attorney General Hood.

Weeks was arrested in November 2010 by investigators with the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, with special assistance from the Richland Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorneys General Brandon Ogburn and Tina Herron.
