Jackson, MS - A Biloxi Man has answered in court after failing to support his child, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.
Harry Mark Gonsoulin, Jr., age 50, of Biloxi, pleaded guilty and was sentenced today for Felony Non-Support of a child before Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Robert B. Krebs.
Judge Krebs sentenced Gonsoulin to three and a half years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, suspended with Post Release Supervision, non-adjudication. The Judge also ordered and the Defendant paid $2,020 toward his back child support today plus court costs.
During the three and a half year sentence, Gonsoulin is to pay an additional $300 a month on top of his regular child support obligation until his arrearage of $15,000 is paid in full.
“It is a shame we have to drag deadbeat parents into court and force them to do right by their own children,? said Attorney General Hood. ?This defendant will have prison time hanging over his head if he fails to pay up now.?
The Attorney General?s Child Desertion Unit under the leadership of Director and Special Assistant Attorney General Deshun T. Martin prosecuted this case.
